Student Filmmaker to Premiere Documentary on Local All-Female Comedy Show

(Bowling Green)-- Bowling Green State University student Paige Driscoll will be presenting screenings of her honors project, a short documentary on the BGSU Women in Comedy show, followed by talkbacks with the filmmaker and show participants.  The first screening will take place at The Carter House of the Wood County Public Library on Tuesday, November 17th at 7pm.  The second screening will take place at The Gish Film Theater in Hanna Hall of Bowling Green State University at 9pm. The screenings and talkbacks will be open to the public.  There is no cost for attendance.

The documentary will run for roughly 15 to 20 minutes.  Topics covered include the creation and expansion of the now four-years-running, student-produced Women in Comedy Show; the group’s activist efforts relating to Women’s issues; and their fundraising program for the Sexual Violence Program of The Cocoon.

The Women in Comedy Show is run each year by a female directing team.  It features a wide variety of comedy acts including improv, sketches, songs, stand-up, and spoken-word pieces (all written and performed by female comedians).  The show runs once each Fall Semester.  More information on the upcoming show will be given out at the documentary screenings.
